Dr. Kate and her Health Care Team
Katherine D. Zimmerman, DVM “Dr. Kate”
Dr. Kate is a native of Upper East Tennessee. She grew up in Johnson City, received her Bachelor of Arts from ETSU with a double major in Biology and English in 1992 and her Doctorate from University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. She was delighted to be able to return to the area to practice because her family lives in the region. Without the full support of her husband, Joe, and her parents, Dr. Richard Kopp and Mrs. Elizabeth Kopp, Tri-County Veterinary Hospital would never have been possible. She has 2 cats at home, Tuna and Molly and a dog (pictured here) Maggie. Dr. Kate is currently seeking accreditation from the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners for her specialty in Canine and Feline Practice and hopes to sit for her Board Exams this fall. She also has a strong interest in Exotic Pets. She is a strong believer in preventive medicine and client education as cornerstones of good veterinary practice. While she has specific clinical interests in internal medicine, allergic disease and small animal surgery, her favorite part of clinical practice is the interactions with her clients and patients!

My position with Tri-County Veterinary Hospital is a new experience for me as my interest and experience has been in higher education. My family has had many four-legged members, although at present due to a very busy schedule, we do not have a pet. However, I do have a grandpet, Rocki, who comes for overnight visits. Our seven grandchildren, keep us healthy joining them in some of their activities of which many we enjoy being good spectators. Friday night football has been our recent past time activity, in good and not so good weather, watching our grandson on the field. My husband and I enjoy our family, auctions, and ministry along side of our full time positions.
