QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be animal and people friendly and be able to follow and comprehend both verbal and written instructions as given. Candidate must be able to work both evenings and weekends and be available for emergency. A high school diploma with a Career Readiness Certificate is preferred. Candidate must be prompt, trustworthy and reliable and demonstrate initiative. At least three business references are required. Computer literacy (Windows, Excel, Word) is a must. Prior experience in the animal care field or medical field is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Job requires lifting up to 50 pounds by yourself and more with assistance.  Bending, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and occasionally wrestling dogs or cats is required. This position requires standing and walking for up to 8 hours or more a day. Cleaning is a major component of this position and the candidate must be able and willing to work both a broom and mop regularly.

JOB TASKS:

An experienced candidate is preferred but on the job training will be provided. Qualified candidate will assist veterinarian in exam rooms and surgery. Other tasks may include but are not limited to taking medical histories, answering phones, booking appointments, administering injections, performing venapuncture, running lab tests, setting up surgery, cleaning and autoclaving surgical packs, scrubbing and prepping patients for surgery, administering medication, placing IV catheters, taking radiographs, performing dental prophys, cleaning kennels, walking dogs, doing laundry, and opening and closing the hospital, including sweeping, mopping and garbage.
